Owen Bullett studied Sculpture at Central Saint Martins, Camberwell College, and the Royal College of Art. He now works mainly between London and Norfolk, although he is currently working on a project in Paris. His sculptures are often composed of a distinct number of interdependent elements, which playfully balance colour, weight and form. He slips happily between scales, always working on a model scale before enlarging certain pieces to suit particular spaces. The function of sculpture has been a key consideration throughout his career, which has led Bullett to also design and make more functional sculptural objects alongside his more abstract works. His primary material has always been wood, owing to his having grown up on the edge of a forest which was his favourite playground as a child. Over time his material language has expanded to include steel, cast aluminium and bronze. This transition and translation into metal provides a contrast, and further extends Bullett’s ongoing exploration of volume and void. Bullett has work in collections in both the UK and Europe, as well as in the USA, China and the Middle East.
