Travelling back in time to 2021, Claudio Holdener completed his residential architectural marvel nestled in the icy green grandeur of his home country Switzerland, in the municipality of Hünenberg, and with this native intuition created an iconic, dark spectacle that is jaw-droppingly set against the pastel skyline and the swaying leaves. The snow-coloured slabs contrast directly with the black construction, illuminating the rectangular swimming pool that captures the reflection of the rolling clouds. The pitch-dark exterior is complimented internally with wooden furnishing and panelling, enlarged black frame window panes, maximising the natural light to animate the corridors, especially noticeable within the open living space – the stand-alone stone surrounded fireplace taking pride-of-place in the centre. The internal rock pool adds finesse and catches the flooding rays, to enhance the interior design and brighten what would be in shadow.
As a collaborator in this project, izé provided the Lynch-designed Vicky lever handles that adorn the towering wooden doors. Our signature oil-aged dark bronze living finish was used for the ironmongery package, subtly accenting the entrances and walkways with an old-fashioned touch to this modern home.
